We seek to provide post-harvest loss prevention for rural farmers by providing solar powered cold room and kiln dryers. We seek to reduce post harvest loss to farmers and all gender inclusive helping earn profit and creating Employment.
UjuziKilimo offers affordable instant soil testing and recommendations to small and medium scale farmers with a population of more than 300 million in Africa who have problems increasing their crop yields. We have developed a sensor based soil testing kit to analyze soil quality; reducing the soil testing time from 3 weeks to 5 minutes. We continue to provide farmers with additional information such as reminder on top dressing fertilizers, weather updates, and market availability, organic farming and disease monitoring updates at a low-cost monthly subscription fee.
Mazingira project aims in providing innovative solutions to sustaining and conserving the environment. Solutions range from water storage management, efficient garbage waste management and agricultural food storage monitoring and management. For this particular challenge, we will present our solutions to deal with water and agricultural produce storage management.
Vertical Farming Technology
Vertical farming technology is a climate-smart agriculture concept whose approach helps to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and ensure food security in a changing climate. The initiative aims to tackle three main objectives: Sustainably Increasing Agricultural Productivity And Incomes, Adapting And Building Resilience To Climate Change And Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions. This is achieved through designing and installing vertical farming technology.
Remote Data Collection Using
Hoji Ltd is a local company that uses mobile technology to help individuals and organizations collect, collate and analyze data. Our strength lies in our ability to quickly and cheaply transform the now commonplace Android smartphones into powerful tools for remote data collection, either online or offline. Once collected, the data is transmitted to our servers in real-time, or retrospectively if internet connectivity is not available. This platform could be used to collect data on farmers and their activities, over time gathering vital indicators for measuring progress and assessing impact. Market data can also be collected, analyzed and disseminated just as easily.
SOLAR POWERED SENSOR
We are building sustainable, resilient, repairable, water and sanitation infrastructure. Through this we are providing affordable, simple, durable, portable, technology integrated, measures impact, able to scale, multi-disciplinary water solution through a solar powered sensor drifters using LORA technology. Our technology uses cellular and radio network equipped with G.P.S salinity. This will be enabled by ultra-narrow band low power through put sensor network. Finally creating an open water intelligence that provides real time and accurate information to improve decision making ability and manage natural resources with maximum efficiency.
Kuza is an agribusiness development and management application that will help both new and experienced farmers make informed decisions in horticultural practice and marketing. With the click of a button, they can get information and trends on agro inputs and advisory services, not forgetting markets and weather conditions in an area.
ICRAF – AfSIS
Scaling evidenced-based agronomy using new sensors, multiple big data sources and machine learning (AfSIS approach) for sustainable intensification of climate-smart agriculture. Soil health is at the root of agricultural production. As the pressures, on agriculture increase with growing populations and changing climates, understanding the details of soil properties are essential in designing and implementing appropriate soil management practices.
Contract farming as a market access instrument for small and medium scale farmers in South Rift and Western Kenya. This project links farmer groups to industrial processors for sustainable soybean, sunflower and canola promotion in Kenya.

This project focuses on the use of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) as an alternative source of light for farming and how they can be integrated with other modern farming techniques (Automation and Vertical farming) to achieve maximum yield at a lower long term cost than the current existing systems. This system will lead to enormous improvement in plant growth and higher yields using significantly less energy, land and water resources while ensuring an all year supply of food. Thus, resulting to a boost in the agriculture sector of the country.
Agritours is an online platform that collects agricultural data, disseminates information and technological transfer using the platform www.agritours.co.ke It also engages in practical oriented farm visits for inexperienced farmers to experienced ones. The platform when fully developed can unite farmers, input providers, policy makers and markets in a single online platform and expose groups of farmers to new technologies offline thus harmonizing online and offline audiences and growing networks and farmers’ capacities.
